Our single variety Yarlington Mill pét nat 2021, natural cider has recently been released and it is already an award winner. We are very proud to say that it has won bronze in the highly regarded International Wine & Spirit Competition awards, in the 100% juice, not-from-concentrate cider category.
These are the tasting notes that the IWSC fed back to us: “Bittersweet character with notes of baked apple and sultanas. Rich, full palate.“
To those notes we would add that the cider is made only from hand picked, unsprayed Yarlington Mill apples. This wonderful natural cider was bottle fermented using only the wild yeasts. It is a naturally sparkling (pét nat), perfectly dry cider. It is unpasteurised and unfiltered. 7.6% abv.
We picked the apples for this cider, by hand as usual, in an orchard just a short drive away, over the border in Somerset. We pressed the apples here in our cider shed and the juice fermented away in a tank until it was at exactly the right time to bottle it in order to achieve a natural sparkle. The cider has a beautiful golden colour, and also those characteristic pét nat soft moussey bubbles that keep on flowing delicately up the glass. It’s a joy to behold and even more of a joy to drink.
This glorious Yarlington Mill natural cider follows hot on the heels of our Yarlington Mill and Michelin 2021 keeved cider which is proving to be a real crowd pleaser too, and which also won bronze in the IWSC awards. As relatively new cider makers, we really couldn’t be more proud.
